Founder and Artistic Director Sinéad O'Neill is a director and producer of opera with a passion for collaborating with composers and performers to create new work.
Sinéad grew up in rural Ireland, in the small farming community of Clonmellon, Co. Westmeath, where she lived until commencing her studies at University College, Cork. Having completed a Masters at the University of Oxford, she moved to the UK full-time in 2006, while maintaining close ties with the unspoilt and inspiring landscape of her origins.
Since 2009, Sinéad has worked regularly at Glyndebourne, including as Assistant Director on Annabel Arden's 2016 production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia. She directed the BBC Prom of that production at the Royal Albert Hall, July 25 2016. She will direct the revival of Barbiere for Glyndebourne Tour in Autumn 2017. In October 2016 Sinéad directed the newly commissioned And London Burned, by Matt Rogers and Sally O'Reilly, at the Temple Church.
Sinéad is also a scholar and researcher; she completed a PhD at Queen Mary University of London in 2010, and her recent publications report on qualitative research into the experiences of opera audiences. Sinéad is a Board Member of English Touring Opera.
